Whooom~

A hologram appeared a couple of feet away from where I was standing.

I’m surprised.

To have a rating like this despite being someone who’s never used magic a couple of days ago is amazing.

Having 2 S ranks in my report means I’m as good as an S-ranked hunter in that field.

They’re technically only rated that high due to my special rewards, but it is what it is.

Looking at my stats, I’ve already far exceeded the standards of any normal student in the academy. Though I don’t have too much experience to utilize my abilities to their full extent, I’m sure I’ll improve eventually.

I’m definitely not weak at the moment. With more classes and practical training, I’m sure I’ll get more opportunities to test everything out.

“Should I train a little longer? I spent quite a bit of time already…”

I don’t have a grasp on all the class schedules yet, but I’m pretty knowledgeable about all the quizzes I’ll have to take here.

Whether it’s textbooks or papers, I’ll be able to memorize anything after reading them once, so I should probably get to it while I have time, but I’m having a lot of fun messing around with magic.

The thrill of magic that I’d never experienced in my past life. I didn’t want to let go of this excitement just yet.

“Magic training is important too… I’ll have time for theory before bed.”

◇◇◇

I spent the entire day yesterday practicing magic and fell asleep as soon as I returned to my room.

I should have some time after class today anyway.

Today’s Wednesday.

Today’s first class was dungeon research. It should teach us everything from strategies to how to take on dungeons and their tactics. It also requires a lot of memorization.

Obviously, that doesn’t mean anything to me. I have a perfect memory.

I already read the textbook and reference materials once, so I shouldn’t worry.

[If the atmospheric mana density outside the dungeon is at 1500ppm, a reading of 473ppm and below at the dungeon entrance signifies that the dungeon has a boss room or an equivalent named monster. A reading of 2897 and above means no boss is present.]

[However, this differs for medium and intermediate dungeons with an atmospheric mana density of 10000ppm and above…]

And I’ve been reading through some of the related papers. Mass memorizing everything about the topic is bound to be useful someday.

“U-um…”

“Yeah? Oh, Lumi?”

“Good morning… Sorry for not replying last night… I fell asleep…”

I scanned the classroom as Lumi spoke to me.

Where is Lucy?

Considering what happened at the training center, there was no way Lucy would allow her doting sister to talk to me.

Thankfully, Lucy was busy doing her own thing with her group. Seems like Lumi took that opportunity to approach me as well.

“That’s alright. I was pretty busy training anyways.”

“Training from the first day… That’s admirable…! If you don’t mind… Next time, maybe… we can… train together…”

“Hello, everyone. My name is Min Jeehee, associate professor of dungeon research.”

The professor began speaking, cutting Lumi off.

The students all began to find their places at the desks, and Lumi left with an “I-I’ll be going now…!”

Seeing her sitting side by side with Lucy, it really would be hard to tell them apart if not for their hair.

“Some of you may be new to dungeon studies, but the study of dungeons is paramount to…”

The lecture was surprisingly easy. The professor was babbling about something, but I’d read it through on the paper already, so my mind began drifting.

Lucy was spinning her pen while resting her head on her left arm. I could practically see the boredom written across her face while Lumi stared at the board with a scrunched-up face.

Nam Daeun was sleeping. She had no interest in theory. Considering her circumstances, she’d only need practical training anyway.

I began scratching some notes in my notebook.

1. Heroine conquest.

This is the most important thing to me right now. Honestly, I’m not even sure how I should proceed with this. I have to take on six girls at the same time… I won’t be just two-timing, but six-timing… two more, and I would be an octopus.

Or should I train them with drugs…? Haa… What am I saying?

Wait.

“...Maybe?”

[Sex Academy] has a train route for people doing multiple playthroughs. If you save money, you can do a lot and buy a bunch of stuff from the black market. Of course, all of which I knew how to do.

“...Let’s keep that as an option for now.”

Unlike a game, it felt too wrong to be doing something like that in this world.

Besides, I still need to apologize to Lucy. I had hoped she’d forgotten about it, but judging by her reaction yesterday, definitely not.

I intended to speak to her yesterday, but she was just too quick to bring her group together to eat.

I should try to make time for it today.

2. Hone in my abilities.

It's probably equally as important if I’m to survive in this world. If I ever get caught six-timing, they’d probably try to kill me, so I should be able to defend myself.

Besides, there are a lot of cliche jump scares and attacks against the heroines, so I could probably help them out for some affection.

Either way, I need to spend a lot of time training and experimenting with my abilities.

Should I work out, too? I mean…

I could press an in-game button called ‘train’ and become automatically stronger in my field.

If I were a mage, I would press train and have increased wisdom stats.

However, this is different. No law says I can’t become stronger physically as a mage, right?

“Lee Hoyeon? You haven’t been writing anything for a while. So you know all this material, right?”

“Huh?!”

I was so surprised at getting called out that I bit my tongue.

“Right? So you wouldn’t space out if you didn’t know everything, right? How about you solve this next question here? Based on your answer, I’ll decide whether to dock your participation points.”

[You are in a maze-type dungeon with a mana reading of 500ppm. If your party consisted of two melee, one ranged, and one support, what would the appropriate action be against a boss-type wombat?]

I definitely saw something about this somewhere. Not in the textbook, but in a paper, perhaps.

“You’ll be docked a point if you can’t answer. So?”

“No, wait.”

A person is sleeping, and another is twirling a pen over there. So why me?

It took me a bit to recall because of the pressure and all the eyes on me, but I eventually did.

“A maze-type dungeon has an equal level of mana throughout. As such, the boss-type wombat probably won’t be that big of a threat.”

“Hm?”

“In a 500ppm mana atmosphere, a wombat's primary food source, the eucaltuce* won’t grow properly. If a wombat did become a boss type in that environment, it probably had to resort to cannibalism of its kind.”

“Oh? And then?”

“There was research published about cannibalistic wombats three years ago. According to that paper, a cannibal wombat is more aggressive and tends to grow sharper fangs and claws. As such…”

Once I began talking, the words flowed out of my mouth since I was reading from the paper directly.

“... to summarize, it will have increased aggression, but its attack patterns will become more basic. It loses its toughness and concentration, so as long as the two melee classes distract it long enough, the ranged and support should be able to take it down in a single strike between the eyes.”

Nobody spoke for a moment. Of course. How could anyone expect a freshman to quote a research paper from three years ago to reply to a question a professor asked?

The students sat in silence, not entirely sure if I was even correct or not.

However, the professor began clapping with a big smile on her face.

“That’s great! I remember reading that paper three years ago, too. I structured this question based on that paper! It doesn’t seem like you magically managed to just read that one paper, so I can only guess how much studying you do on your own time. Plus 1 point!”

“Thank you.”

“Even if you know the material, no professor will like it if you don’t pay attention.”

“Sorry. I’ll keep that in mind!”

Phew. That went by okay. I sighed and sat back down.

The class continued, and the next slide showed exactly what I described in my answer. I tried to concentrate but couldn’t help but hear the whispers behind me.

“What the hell? I didn’t understand anything he said.”

“It’d be weird if you did. Didn’t you hear the professor? It’s from a paper three years ago! It doesn’t even make sense that a freshman knows all this.”

“He must’ve gotten lucky then.”

Yeah… But doesn’t it feel like his explanation was better than what the professor is currently explaining?

Hm? Did I overdo it? Whatever. It should be fine. The MC becomes valedictorian in the game anyway.

In that process, I’ll run into Alice and Nam Dauen, who are ranked first in theory and practical exams.

“I’ll see you all in the next class. Make sure to review everything. I’ll quiz you at random.”

The lecture hall became busy with activity as soon as the class ended.

As I packed up my stuff quietly, I heard a voice behind me.

“Paper from three years ago, my ass. He really won’t admit that he just got lucky.”

“Yeah. If he was that good, he would’ve ranked first in the entrance exam.”

I turned back to the voices and saw a group of people looking in my direction, snickering.

“Hm? He’s looking at us. What’re you gonna do? Fight us?”

“Hey, hey! Stop it. He’s gonna piss himself.”

In the middle of that group stood a familiar face.

The one snickering the loudest… His name was… Do Jinhyuk.

He was a stereotypical bully and evil extra, so this behavior was to be expected.

I didn’t expect him to be hostile this early, though.

I think I’ve drawn too much attention to myself already.

As I wondered how I should handle this, someone approached Do Jinhyuk from behind and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“Hey, why don’t you piss off?”

“...Get your hands off of me.”

He gritted his teeth, swatted the hand away, and walked away with his posse. What a typical reaction from a stereotypical bully.

“Hey.”

The guy who drove him away came up to me with a smile.

Ah. His golden locks bounced in the light. It was him.

The MC’s best friend, Kim Younghan.

He had short, blonde hair and tattoos that were barely visible underneath his sleeve, characteristics of a typical delinquent.

He wasn’t really a bad guy, though.

“Hm? Oh, your name is Kim Younghan, right?”

“Ohh, hey, you know me? Maybe I’m pretty popular, heh.”

Even in the game, Kim Younghan becomes close to the MC when he helps the MC against a group of bullies. This is all a bit ahead of schedule, but that should probably be fine.

“Everyone here seemed pretty boring, but you seem alright.”

I guess his outgoing personality does help him make a lot of friends.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Lee Hoyeon.”

I’m here to piggyback off your hard work.
